He is very open to innovation and is always experimenting on his farm. Jose knows the 45 hectares of his farm like the palm of his hand and can tell you where every variety and lot comes from.
One experiment he is working on at the moment is to try and grow Geisha at 2,400 meters above sea level. Starting to produce specialty coffees, he says, has been one of the best decisions of his life. Not only has he received the economic benefits but also recognition, participating in several Cup of Excellence competitions. What makes José Roberto and his farm so special and successful is his absolute passion for what he does.
