Gora Kone is a washing station located in the Refisa kebele of Nensebo district in Ethiopia’s West Arsi zone. Located just north of the famous Sidamo region, Nensebo is an area with very high specialty coffee potential. Gora, meaning “mountain”, and Kone, meaning “hump” is an apt description of the mountainous surroundings which provide great conditions for complex coffee development. Over 70 percent of Nensebo is covered in hills and mountain ranges, with most farmers cultivating on farms no larger than 4 hectares. The Gora Kone washing station receives its red cherries from 600 to 1000 farmers in the area, and produces both washed and natural processed coffees.

Gora Kone was recently acquired by Testi Trading, a specialty coffee exporter working with 20 different washing stations across the country. After collaborating for the past 5 years, having the support of an exclusively specialty coffee exporter will help to continually improve the quality of the coffee produced, and support the livelihood of the farmers who work with Gora Kone.
